High Scoring Game Leaves TriCity Chili Peppers Overtaken By Greenbrier Knights
Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between Greenbrier Knights and TriCity Chili Peppers where TriCity Chili Peppers lost 11-6.
TriCity Chili Peppers fired up the offense in the second inning, when Ryan Boyce doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
After Greenbrier Knights scored one run in the top of the fourth, TriCity Chili Peppers answered with one of their own. Greenbrier Knights scored when Jose Cazorla doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. TriCity Chili Peppers then answered when Michael Peterson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Greenbrier Knights pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Jacob Jackson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Cazorla singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Warren Bailey singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, and Jordan Daddio singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
TriCity Chili Peppers notched three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught by TriCity Chili Peppers was led by Pond and Beavers, all driving in runs in the frame.
Greenbrier Knights scored five runs in the eighth inning. Shane McCarthy, Bailey, and Myles Webb each had RBIs in the frame.
Andrew Ramos earned the win for Greenbrier Knights. The ace surrendered one run on three hits over three innings, striking out five and walking one. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Aiden Foley, Cole Taylor, Orion DeBres, and Joe Califano all securing outs and ultimately the victory.
Nicholas Zegna took the loss for TriCity Chili Peppers. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking one.
TriCity Chili Peppers tallied 11 hits on the day. Boyce, Peterson, Drew Camp, and Tommy Crider all managed multiple hits for TriCity Chili Peppers. Boyce went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead TriCity Chili Peppers in hits.
