On behalf of the Edenton Steamers, Tarboro River Bandits and the Outer Banks Scallywags, we would like to say THANK YOU to the Tidewater Summer League for setting up our North Carolina division (PCL) during the past three summers and for providing our teams with a quality league to play in while our respective organizations were going through either a transition, creation or relaunch, thank you.
We would also like to say THANK YOU to Eastern Officials Association for their willingness to provide their outstanding umpire services to our organizations. It has been a pleasure working with your professional organization, and the high quality umpires who worked our games were outstanding, thank you.
With the closing of our 2023 season, the TSL’s Premier Collegiate division will be archieved, but our teams will continue to provide their fans with high quality summer baseball. The Outer Banks Scallywags have rejoined the Tidewater Summer League, based in Virginia Beach, VA, for the upcoming 2024 season. The Scallywags (Daredevils) were members of the TSL from 2013 through 2019, before joining the PCL division in 2023 following their three year pandemic related shut down. The Edenton Steamers and Tarboro River Bandits will be announcing their future plans on their respective websites as that information becomes available.
Through the tireless efforts of Tyler Russell, Steamers GM, Gary Roth, Steamers President, the Steamers Board of Directors, Wayne and Susan Turnage, River Bandits owners, and Michael and Shannon Dooley, Scallywags care takers, the PCL division was instrumental in helping to maintain collegiate summer baseball in the great communities of eastern North Carolina, and we are grateful to have been a part of that success.
The Tidewater Summer League wishes each of these great franchises the best as they begin a new chapter in their team’s history. and we are confident in their continued success both on and off the field. We would also like to say a very special THANK YOU to the fans for your support of these great organizations, as you the community are the team behind the team, making summer collegiate baseball possible.
