Dolberry ‘S Walk-Off Seals The Deal In Tarboro River Bandits Victory Over Edenton Steamers

Sunday, August 1, 2021 – Tarboro, NC

A walk-off walk led Tarboro River Bandits past Edenton Steamers 3-2 on Sunday. The game was tied at two with Tarboro River Bandits batting in the bottom of the tenth when Mike Dolberry drew a walk, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Tarboro River Bandits pitchers struck out ten, while Edenton Steamers pitchers sat down 12.

Tarboro River Bandits got things moving in the first inning. Jackson Cherry singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the ninth inning, Edenton Steamers tied things up at two. Jacob Bisharat drew a walk, scoring one run.

Eli Culbreth was the winning pitcher for Tarboro River Bandits. The righthander went one and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out three and walking one.

Cole Bates took the loss for Edenton Steamers. The righty went two and a third innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four.

Daniel Willie started the game for Edenton Steamers. The pitcher surrendered two runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one Will Smith started the game for Tarboro River Bandits. With tonight’s win, the Tarboro River Bandits advance to the Championship Game Monday night at War Memorial Stadium against the Greenbrier Knights.

As this is a double elimination division championship tournament, if the River Bandits loose Monday night, the Knights will be the Eastern Division Champion. If the River Bandits win Monday night’s game, they will force the if game, to be played Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

With their lose tonight, the Edenton Steamers’ season comes to an end. We would like to say thank you to the Steamers staff, coaches and players for another great summer. We wish all the players and coaches the best as they return to campus in a few weeks.
