Greenbrier Knights Triumph Over Virginia Beach Valor.
Greenbrier Knights bested Virginia Beach Valor 5-3 on Thursday at War Memorial Stadium.
Virginia Beach Valor opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two doubles. Virginia Beach Valor first got on the board when Nance doubled, scoring one run.
Greenbrier Knights took the lead in the bottom of the second. Jayden Upton-Hall homered to left field, scoring two runs, to give Greenbrier Knights the edge, 3-2.
Samuel Poore earned the win for Greenbrier Knights. The hurler surrendered two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out three and walking three.
Patterson took the loss for Virginia Beach Valor. The pitcher went four innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking two.
Jason Miller collected the save. Baylen Newcom, Michael Wingo Jr, Calub Gryckiewicz, and Danny Padillo each threw scoreless innings for Greenbrier Knights in relief.
Greenbrier Knights collected nine hits in the game. Addison Way, Jabril Bullock, Hunter Langston, Upton-Hall, Newcom, Ryan Hummel, Hayden Jones, Maison Becker, and Sylvester Clark each collected one hit for Greenbrier Knights.
Upton-Hall and Hummel each drove in two runs for Greenbrier Knights. Clark stole two bases. Greenbrier Knights ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game.
Greenbrier Knights didn’t commit a single error in the field. Dylan Whitmire had the most chances in the field with seven.
Curry and Nance were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Virginia Beach Valor. Tellefsen led Virginia Beach Valor with two hits in four at bats.
Greenbrier Knights will travel to Edenton Steamers for their next game on Tuesday.
