Greenbrier Knights With Tough Game Against Edenton Steamers

Greenbrier Knights couldn’t keep up with Edenton Steamers and fell 16-3 on Thursday at Edenton Steamers.

Greenbrier Knights got on the board in the first inning after Barry Farias Jr hit a solo home run to right field.

Jayden Greenidge homered to center field, which helped Edenton Steamers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

In the bottom of the second inning, Edenton Steamers went back into the lead after Hudson Spencer walked, Greenbrier Knights committed an error, Brayden Renfrow grounded out, and Luke Alford singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Edenton Steamers scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Josh Wenz singled, scoring one run, Ray Jesse singled, scoring one run, Spencer singled, scoring one run, and Renfrow homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Edenton Steamers scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to right field by Sawyer Bates following a 6-pitch at-bat.

Blake Baldwin earned the win for Edenton Steamers. The starter gave up four hits and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Gavin Stevens pitched three innings in relief for Greenbrier Knights. The reliever allowed four hits and five runs (four earned) while, striking out three and walking five. Liam Richardson took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The hurler went two innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking three.

Greenbrier Knights accumulated nine hits in the game. Farias Jr drove the middle of the lineup, leading Greenbrier Knights with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-2 on the day. Tyler Rutman and Farias Jr each collected two hits for Greenbrier Knights.
