Edenton Steamers Defeats Norfolk Redbirds In High-Scoring but Rain Shortened Affair

Both Edenton Steamers and Norfolk Redbirds had their offenses going on Friday, but Edenton Steamers eventually prevailed 10-6.

Norfolk Redbirds fired up the offense in the first inning. Jack Morick drove in two when Morick homered.

Edenton Steamers pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Chase Bruno singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Alden Cottle homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs, and Tate Abbott doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Norfolk Redbirds scored three runs in the third inning. Norfolk Redbirds batters contributing to the big inning included Ben Adams and Justin Liakos, all driving in runs in the frame.

Nicky Wohleking took the win for Edenton SteamersWohleking lasted five innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out three. Bryce Stephens and Jared Beebe entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Tanner Simpson took the loss for Norfolk Redbirds. The bulldog surrendered three runs on five hits over one and one-third innings, walking zero.

Edenton Steamers launched three home runs on the day. Bruno had a four bagger in the fifth inning. Abbott had a dinger in the third inning. Cottle went for the long ball in the fourth inning.
