Walk-Off Seals The Deal In Greenbrier Knights Victory Over Virginia Beach Valor
It came down to the wire on Friday at War Memorial Stadium, as Greenbrier Knights grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-6, over Virginia Beach Valor. Greenbrier Knights were down 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ryan Hummel doubled, scoring two runs.
Virginia Beach Valor jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Nance doubled, scoring two runs, and Tellefsen singled, scoring one run.
Greenbrier Knights made the score 5-3 in the bottom of the third after TJ McGowan doubled, scoring one run, Jayden Upton-Hall singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
Virginia Beach Valor captured the lead, 6-5, in the top of the fifth after Curry hit a sacrifice fly, Hicks doubled down the left field line, and Ventrice singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Jason Miller earned the win for Greenbrier Knights. The pitcher gave up two hits and three runs, none earned, over one inning, striking out one and walking one.
Blackburn took the loss for Virginia Beach Valor. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out three and walking three.
Danny Padilla began the game for Greenbrier Knights. The pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three.
Dylan Blazer began the game for Virginia Beach Valor. The hurler surrendered five hits and five runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking three.
Bryce Burchette threw two and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for Greenbrier Knights in relief. The hurler allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking one.
Hummel led Greenbrier Knights with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-1 on the day.
