Greenbrier Knights Loses Despite Out Hitting Virginia Blasters
Greenbrier Knights fell 6-4 to Virginia Blasters on Wednesday at Cape Henry Collegiate School despite out-hitting them eight to seven. Brendan White led Greenbrier Knights with two hits.
A solo home run to left field by Joshua Radmore put Greenbrier Knights on the board in the top of the first.
Virginia Blasters took the lead in the bottom of the first. Tanner homered to right field, scoring three runs, to give Virginia Blasters the lead, 3-1.
Tucker Rupe singled to center field, which helped Greenbrier Knights tie the game at three in the top of the third.
Virginia Blasters took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kablach grounded into a fielder’s choice, Coop grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Greenbrier Knights committed an error, each scoring one run.
Tanner earned the win for Virginia Blasters. The pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out six and walking none. Danny Padilla took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The right-handed pitcher went three innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking one.
Rupe led Greenbrier Knights with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Greenbrier Knights had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.
Tanner drove the middle of the lineup, leading Virginia Blasters with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Gillespie led Virginia Blasters with three hits in three at bats. Virginia Blasters turned one double play in the game. Virginia Blasters were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Coop made the most plays with 11.
Greenbrier Knights will travel to Tri City Chili Peppers for their next game on Thursday.
