Coconuts Baseball Take Down Greenbrier Knights A Little At A Time
Coconuts Baseball kept adding on runs in a 9-2 victory over Greenbrier Knights on Tuesday at Kiln Creek Park.
Coconuts Baseball were the first to get on the board in the first when Josh Reinhold doubled, scoring two runs.
Greenbrier Knights tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a hit by a pitch, and a walk by Maison Becker.
Coconuts Baseball took the lead in the bottom of the second. Sean Cherry singled, scoring two runs, to give Coconuts Baseball the upper hand, 4-2.
Coconuts Baseball extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI walks by Casey Cheaney and Cherry.
Jacob Lawrence earned the win for Coconuts Baseball. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and two runs over three innings, striking out six and walking five.
Samuel Poore took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The left-handed pitcher went one inning, allowing four runs on one hit, striking out one and walking four.
Colin Gifford, Dylan Whitmire, Jabril Bullock, and Victor Johnson Jr each collected one hit for Greenbrier Knights. TJ McGowan and Becker each drove in one run for Greenbrier Knights. Gifford paced Greenbrier Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Greenbrier Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Whitmire had the most chances in the field with seven.
Reinhold drove the middle of the lineup, leading Coconuts Baseball with four runs batted in. The shortstop went 3-for-3 on the day. Coconuts Baseball had patience at the plate, accumulating 11 walks for the game. Ahmaad Goldson and Brandon Drewry led the team with two bases on balls each. Cherry and Drewry each stole multiple bases for Coconuts Baseball. Coconuts Baseball stole eight bases in the game. Coconuts Baseball didn’t commit a single error in the field. CJ Buchan had the most chances in the field with 13.
