Jayden Upton-Hall’s Big Day Propels Greenbrier Knights Past Coconuts Baseball
Jayden Upton-Hall drove in four runs on one hit to lead Greenbrier Knights past Coconuts Baseball 15-7 on Thursday at War Memorial Stadium. Upton-Hall doubled in the eighth inning, scoring three runs, and walked in the seventh inning, scoring one.
Coconuts Baseball were the first to get on the board in the first when Davis Neighbor grounded out, scoring one run.
Greenbrier Knights jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Jabril Bullock drew a walk, scoring one run, and Noah Kegley doubled, scoring two runs.
A double by Trevor Harris extended the Greenbrier Knights lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the second inning.
Greenbrier Knights scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Upton-Hall drew a walk, scoring one run, Harris drew a walk, scoring one run, Bryce Burchette drew a walk, scoring one run, Bullock singled, scoring one run, and Victor Johnson Jr singled, scoring one run.
Calub Gryckiewicz earned the win for Greenbrier Knights. The reliever surrendered two hits and one run over two innings, striking out none and walking none. Noah Laney took the loss for Coconuts Baseball. The reliever went three innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking five. Samuel Poore opened the game for Greenbrier Knights. The pitcher allowed zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out three and walking three.
Hunter Santilli stepped on the hill first for Coconuts Baseball. The hurler surrendered three hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking three. Garrett Siegel, Burchette, and Michael Wingo Jr each appeared in relief for Greenbrier Knights.
Greenbrier Knights collected nine hits in the game. Bullock and Kegley each collected two hits for Greenbrier Knights. Upton-Hall led Greenbrier Knights with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 13 walks for the game. Kegley and Tre Keels each stole multiple bases for Greenbrier Knights. Greenbrier Knights ran wild on the base paths, accumulating seven stolen bases for the game.
Coconuts Baseball collected nine hits in the game. Neighbor provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Coconuts Baseball with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-5 on the day. Coston led Coconuts Baseball with three hits in three at bats. Coconuts Baseball had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Ahmaad Goldson and Aareon Monroe led the team with two free passes each. Coston stole two bases. Coconuts Baseball stole six bases in the game.
