5 Greenbrier Knights Pitchers Rally Together In Shutout Victory Against Tidewater Thunderbirds

Greenbrier Knights defeated Tidewater Thunderbirds 2-0 on Thursday at Western Branch HS as five pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Adam Emhoff, Jy’Quez Williams, Ian Salters, Bryce Burchette, and Gavin Stevens each pitched for Greenbrier Knights in the game. Williams got Kel Smith to hit into a fielder’s choice to get the last out.

Both teams were strong on the bump. Greenbrier Knights pitchers struck out three, while Tidewater Thunderbirds sat down four.

Greenbrier Knights opened the scoring in the third after Nolan Williford singled, scoring two runs.

Bryce Burchette earned the win for Greenbrier Knights. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Gavin Stevens pitched three innings in relief for Greenbrier Knights. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs while, striking out three and walking one. Jy’Quez Williams collected the save.

Williford led Greenbrier Knights with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Kai Patton led Greenbrier Knights with two hits in three at bats. Greenbrier Knights were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Patton made the most plays with nine.
