Greenbrier Knights Keep It Close Against Coastal Cockatoos, Lose On Walkoff

Greenbrier Knights fell to Coastal Cockatoos 2-1 on Saturday at Azalea Little League on the final play of the game. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the eighth when Noah Monroe singled, scoring one run.
Both teams were strong on the bump. Coastal Cockatoos pitchers struck out 10, while Greenbrier Knights sat down five.
Greenbrier Knights got on the board in the first inning after Tyler Rutman singled, scoring one run.
Greenbrier Knights committed an error, which helped Coastal Cockatoos tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.
Joel Flynn earned the win for Coastal Cockatoos. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one. James Stapleton took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. Casey Proctor led things off on the bump for Greenbrier Knights. The starter allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking three. Kasey Barcroft stepped on the hill first for Coastal Cockatoos. The righty allowed six hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Kai Patton and Rutman were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Greenbrier Knights while hitting back-to-back. Rutman led Greenbrier Knights with one run batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Greenbrier Knights ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. Greenbrier Knights turned one double play in the game.
Monroe led Coastal Cockatoos with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Monroe, Brady Donovan, Jaycob Flores, Andrew Griffin, and Jordan Hunt each collected one hit for Coastal Cockatoos. Ayden Farris led Coastal Cockatoos with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game.
