Greenbrier Knights Loses Despite Out Hitting Tri City Chili Peppers

Greenbrier Knights fell 10-5 to Tri City Chili Peppers on Friday at Shepherd Stadium despite out-hitting them eight to six. Brendan White led Greenbrier Knights with two hits.

Tri City Chili Peppers were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.

Taylor Barnes grounded into a fielder’s choice, which helped Greenbrier Knights tie the game at one in the top of the second.

A walk by Vick gave Tri City Chili Peppers the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the second.

Joshua Radmore hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Greenbrier Knights tie the game at two in the top of the third.

In the top of the fourth, Greenbrier Knights broke up the tie when White hit a solo home run to left field. Then a single by Barry Farias Jr followed to extend the lead to 4-2.

Tri City Chili Peppers tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a triple by Mauzy, and a ground out by Kokolis.

In the bottom of the fifth, Tri City Chili Peppers broke up the tie when a wild pitch scored one run. Then a single by Kokolis followed to extend the lead to 8-4.

Evan Goldkey earned the win for Tri City Chili Peppers. The pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none. Luke Warner took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The right-handed pitcher went one inning, giving up four runs (three earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking three. Chase Mottley led things off on the bump for Greenbrier Knights. The righty gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking one. Taylor began the game for Tri City Chili Peppers. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and four runs over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking six.

White, Barnes, Radmore, Bryce Radcliff, and Farias Jr each drove in one run for Greenbrier Knights. Greenbrier Knights had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Cordaro Williams and Nolan Williford led the team with two free passes each. White, Barnes, and Josh Henkel each stole multiple bases for Greenbrier Knights. Greenbrier Knights stole nine bases in the game.
