Greenbrier Knights Defeats VA Blasters In Pitcher’s Duel
Both teams were strong on the mound on Monday, but Greenbrier Knights defeated VA Blasters 3-1. Liam Richardson started the game for Greenbrier Knights and recorded eight outs.
VA Blasters were the first to get on the board in the first when a wild pitch scored one run.
Nolan Williford singled to center field, which helped Greenbrier Knights tie the game at one in the top of the fifth.
Greenbrier Knights captured the lead, 3-1, in the top of the seventh after VA Blasters committed an error, and Bryce Radcliff walked, each scoring one run.
Andrew Lupien took the loss for VA Blasters. The pitcher went one inning, surrendering two runs (one earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking three. Richardson began the game for Greenbrier Knights. The hurler gave up one hit and one run over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three. Jack Bonney started the game for VA Blasters. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking two. Baylen Newcomb collected the win, striking out 3 in the 7th to close the door. Adam Emhoff, Jason Miller and James Stapleton each came on in relief for Greenbrier Knights and shutdown VA Blasters.

CT Thompson paced Greenbrier Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Greenbrier Knights were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jack Pszczola made the most plays with 10.
