Greenbrier Knights With Tough Game Against Tri City Chili Peppers
Greenbrier Knights couldn’t keep up with Tri City Chili Peppers and fell 14-3 on Saturday at Shepherd Stadium.
Tri City Chili Peppers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Topscott walked, Tri City Chili Peppers scored on a wild pitch, and Tri City Chili Peppers scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
Tri City Chili Peppers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Williams walked, and Ellenburg singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Greenbrier Knights scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Tyler Rutman.
Tri City Chili Peppers scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ellenburg singled, scoring one run, Mauzy doubled, scoring one run, and Butts homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Miller earned the win for Tri City Chili Peppers. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking four. Danny Padilla took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The hurler went three innings, giving up five runs on two hits, striking out four and walking six.
Number seven hitter, Taylor Barnes, showed the depth of Greenbrier Knights’s lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Dylan Wood, Barnes, and Rutman each drove in one run for Greenbrier Knights.
Butts drove the middle of the lineup, leading Tri City Chili Peppers with four runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Number seven hitter, Ellenburg, showed the depth of Tri City Chili Peppers’s lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Mauzy collected two hits for Tri City Chili Peppers in three at bats. Kokolis paced Tri City Chili Peppers with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Topscott stole two bases. Tri City Chili Peppers stole four bases in the game.
Greenbrier Knights will travel to VA Blasters College Druzgala for their next game on Monday.
