Greenbrier Knights Defeated By Tidewater Thunderbirds
Greenbrier Knights fell to Tidewater Thunderbirds 6-2 on Monday at Western Branch HS.
Greenbrier Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kai Patton singled down the left field line, and Nolan Williford grounded out, each scoring one run.
Tidewater Thunderbirds tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a wild pitch, and a walk by Thess.
Tidewater Thunderbirds took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Eli Carroll scored after tagging up, to give Tidewater Thunderbirds the leg up, 3-2.
Dom Zack earned the win for Tidewater Thunderbirds. The starter allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Calub Gryckiewicz took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The right-handed pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs on nine hits, striking out one and walking one. Baylen Newcomb opened the game for Greenbrier Knights. The southpaw allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking four. Bauswell earned the save.
Patton went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Greenbrier Knights in hits. Greenbrier Knights turned one double play in the game. Greenbrier Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Taylor Barnes had the most chances in the field with four.
Greenbrier Knights head to Colonial Heights, VA tomorrow to take on the Tri-City Chili Peppers at Shepherd Stadium.
