Greenbrier Knights could not keep pace with Yorktown Coconuts 7-3 on Friday at Northampton Community Center.
Greenbrier Knights opened the scoring in the third after Joseph Petry hit a solo home run to left field.
Yorktown Coconuts captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third after Sean Stewart grounded out, B Knight singled to center field, and Yorktown Coconuts scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.
Matthew Caldwell earned the win for Yorktown Coconuts. The pitcher gave up three hits and three runs over six innings, striking out four and walking three. Liam Richardson took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The righty went three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking two.
Kai Patton led Greenbrier Knights with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Patton and Petry each collected two hits for Greenbrier Knights. Barry Farias Jr paced Greenbrier Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game.
Stewart went 2-for-5 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Yorktown Coconuts had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 14 walks for the game. Brandon Drewry, T Moefaauo, and M Hetzel led the team with two bases on balls each. Aaron Maxie, Drewry, and Moefaauo each stole multiple bases for Yorktown Coconuts. Yorktown Coconuts ran wild on the base paths, collecting 10 stolen bases for the game. Yorktown Coconuts didn’t commit a single error in the field. Maxie had the most chances in the field with 10.
