Edenton Steamers defeated Greenbrier Knights 11-0 on Wednesday at Edenton Steamers thanks in part to six runs in the third inning.
Edenton Steamers got on the board in the second inning after Ethyn Barnitz scored after tagging up.
Edenton Steamers scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Jayden Greenidge hit a grand slam to center field, Aidan Cannaday scored after tagging up, and an error scored one run.
Brandon Arthur earned the win for Edenton Steamers. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Bryce Burchette took the loss for Greenbrier Knights. The right-handed pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking one.
Kai Patton and Tucker Rupe each collected one hit for Greenbrier Knights. Greenbrier Knights turned one double play in the game.
Edenton Steamers collected 12 hits in the game. Greenidge provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Edenton Steamers with six runs batted in. The third baseman went 3-for-4 on the day. Oliver Zohn and Barnitz each collected multiple hits for Edenton Steamers. Edenton Steamers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Barnitz had the most chances in the field with 10.
